David G. Smith is an associate minister at Sherwood Baptist Church. With responsibilities in counseling and missions, he works closely with those who are going through difficult times in their lives, helping them to find peace and meaning to make changes that impact themselves, their families, and the community.
Even after 40 years of this service, he never tires of rejoicing with people who are able to put past hurts behind them and move forward to the future with anticipation, he says. He enjoys telling people about the work of the Alpha Pregnancy Center ministry and the Albany Biblical Counseling Center, and how they are impacting Albany and the surrounding areas. Both are ministries he has invested time in for the past nine years.
A native of LaGrange, David and his wife of 37 years, Kathy, have a daughter, Lindsay(Bill) Fricks, a son, Jonathan (Ashleigh), and six grandchildren. The couple feels blessed to know their children are working hard to provide for their families, not only in the physical sense, but also spiritually. They will always have a very special place in their hearts for their son, Brandon, who passed away when he was 18 in 2001.
David hopes people see him as a man of integrity and honesty. What is he most passionate about?
“I am thankful for the blessings God has given me.”
